My Review

This is my favorite legal drama since awhile You Were Sleeping!

Lee Jong Suk eating celery and smirking via GIPHY.

I loved how this drama included Attorney Woo’s special interest: Whales!

Whales swimming via GIPHY.

I adored the soundtrack, learning about Attorney Woo’s friends, and the court cases were so compelling!! This is a relatively fast-paced K-Drama and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the plot twists. I have to admit – I predicted some like the storyline about who leaked the anonymous blog post. I learned a lot about whales in this too. I really loved that this was a bit lighter than It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.

My favorite episode was the case Attorney Woo took with her friend. It also showed how complicated family relationships can be. It was so good to finally see that on TV. Family can be supportive, unsupportive in other ways, messy, but there for each other at the end of the day. I liked that the show didn’t shy away from talking about hard topics.

This show also doesn’t hide the fact that people often overlook those with disabilities. Attorney Woo was top of her class but because she has autism, many companies refused to hire her. A very real struggle from what I’ve read on The Mighty.

Disability is not a dirty word via GIPHY.

Typically in K-dramas I love the crew more than the couple and this was the case for this one too! I absolutely adored seeing Attorney Woo interact with her friends and the nice colleagues. Woo’s Team (except one) looked out for each other as they got to know one another. It was incredible to watch them grow closer to each other as each episode went on!

The romance was also super cute! Jung is one of the few walking green flags for a boyfriend. I really want to see more positive relationships in K-Dramas. Their chemistry is undeniable and I love that Woo eventually cares for him as much as she loves talking about whales.

Final thoughts: This was so good! I’ve been sick with a sore throat so I’ve been trying to do less than usual (which is hard for me, lol). I loved this K-drama and if you’re a fan of Suits or other legal dramas then you’re going to want to watch Extraordinary Attorney Woo.

All the K-Dramas I’m Going to Watch after Eid

Blog Banner that states: All the Korean Dramas I’m Going to Watch After Eid

Hello, everyone!! I’ve been back from my trip to Sri Lanka for a week and I’ve tested negative for covid which is a huge relief. I was unfortunately really sick when I got back – had major migraines, fever, and just overall relieved to be home lol.

So Jet Lagged via GIPHY.

It was a long trip with over 7+ hour power cuts some days. Some days the only thing to do was to cool off at the beach because there was no power and no electricity. That was also a nightmare trying to balance an online class on top of it but I somehow managed to do that. It was a hectic trip, but it was nice to see my grandmother and relatives that I haven’t seen in like two years.I’m glad to be back though and thankfully just in time for Eid. For those who are wondering, Eid is on Monday which means this weekend is the last few days of Ramadan.

A man says: “Moving On!” Via GIPHY.

Alright, so this first one is unfortunately one that I’ve already been given spoilers but I still want to know what happens. I started this before Ramadan and I’m excited to finish it.

Twenty Five Twenty One

Fanning myself like how the protagonist does in Twenty Five Twenty One is also what I ended up doing to survive the power cuts (this is via GIPHY).

Synopsis is from Asian Wiki:

Na Hee-Do is a member of her high school fencing team. Due to the South Korean financial crisis, the high school fencing team gets disbanded. Getting through all the difficulties, she becomes a member of the sabre fencing national team.

The South Korean financial crisis also causes Back Yi-Jin’s father’s business to go bankrupt. This leads to a life change for Back Yi-Jin, from living the life of a wealthy person to a poor person. While studying, he works part-time jobs like delivery newspapers. Later, he becomes a sports reporter for a broadcasting network.

This drama is hilarious so far and I love how the characters are so different from what I’ve usually seen in a k-drama. The tension and the banter is so freaking good and I highly recommend checking it out!!

Nevertheless Initial Thoughts

Nevertheless Kdrama via GIPHY

So I’ve watched the first couple of episodes of Nevertheless and I get why people love it. But, there’s so much hype around it that I expected more.

Synopsis

Park Jae-Eon (Song Kang) is a university student, majoring in art. He seems nice to everyone and he is usually cheerful. Yet, he is really indifferent to others and he doesn’t want to have a romantic relationship. Unexpectedly, he falls for Yoo Na-Bi (Han So-Hee) and begins to change. Yoo Na-Bi is an art student at the same university as Park Jae-Eon. In her past, she broke up with her first love due to his unfaithful ways. After that, decided to become unswayed by love. She then meets Park Jae-Eon and develops feelings for him. (Via Asian Wiki).

Nevertheless via GIPHY

I will say that these two reminded me a little bit of Chuck and Blair. Especially with their sexual tension and undeniable chemistry. I also liked that this was different from the usual kdramas that I watched. It’s a lot more intense!

Chuck and Blair via GIPHY

I also really liked the fact the Na-bi, the main protagonist was not a straight – A student. She struggles, but does her best.

I can’t really give my final thoughts on this yet, because I’m still watching it but if you watched it let me know who was your favorite character in the comments below!

Korean Dramas I Want to See After Ramadan

1. Suspicious Partner

Suspicious Partner via Giphy

This is a K-drama I started back when I was in Sri Lanka two years ago because it was on Netflix there and then I couldn’t remember where I left off so I’d need to see it again.

2. The King’s Avatar

This is a drama I started pre-Ramadan and I intend on finishing it after! It’s perfect for fans of the Chinese Drama Love 020 or for those who love gaming! Even if you’re not a fan of gaming I still highly recommend it.

3. Extraordinary You

I’ve been meaning to watch this one for awhile and I can’t wait to see it. If you’re a fan of True Beauty, you’re going to love this!

4. W: Two Worlds

W: Two worlds via GIPHY

I still can’t believe I haven’t seen this one yet! Especially since one of my favorite actors- Lee Jong Suk is in it so I know it’s going to be an incredible drama. If you haven’t seen any of his dramas I recommend starting with While You Were Sleeping which is also on Hulu or you can watch it on Kiss Asian!

5. A Love So Beautiful

A Love So Beautiful via GIPHY

This was another one that I started Pre-Ramadan and I plan on finishing after Ramadan. It’s a story about a young girl who gets a crush on a guy but it’s unrequited for a long time. Still- the girl is persistent and never gives up. In addition, the actress is the same one from Meteor Garden. This K- drama is on Netflix and it was initially a C-Drama if I’m not mistaken!

Do you watch K-Dramas? If yes, what are some of your current faves? Also, if you’ve seen any of these please let me know which drama I should watch first!

K-Drama Review: Crash Landing on You

Crash Landing on You via GIPHY

Synopsis

A paragliding mishap drops a South Korean heiress in North Korea – and into the life of an army officer, who decides he will help her hide.

My Review

I was hesitant about watching this one, because of the hype but a friend of mine told me she loved it. She knows my taste in K-Dramas so when she said she thought this would be something I’d love I told her I’d give it a chance.

It took quarantine life to happen for me to actually sit down and stream it on Netflix. Although I had accidentally spoiled it for myself (scrolling through IG) I was still pleasantly surprised and don’t worry I won’t spoil it for you!

If you’re into K-Dramas, then you know the actor & actress of this drama are currently dating IRL!

Crash Landing on You via GIPHY

I knew almost right away that I would fall in love with the main couple because of the chemistry I’ve seen while watching snippets of it on reels.

However, I didn’t know that I’d become fond of the friendships that were in this show!!

Honestly, I see the hype. This k-drama is like if The Heirs and Descendants of the Sun had a child this would be it! (I still need to see Descendants of the Sun but I know most of the plot by now).

Crash Landing on You via GIPHY

Honestly, how can you not fall in love with this show? Look at the chemistry and the smiles 🙂 Also the plot is really good too and will keep you on your toes! I tried to be as spoiler -free as possible because I’m almost done watching it which is why there’s no rating for this one yet.

Q: Do you watch K-Dramas? If yes, what are some of your favorites? I’ve been thinking of making a list of my favorite K-Dramas.

The Top 5 K-dramas I can’t wait to binge-watch

If you’ve been following me on my old blog, then you know that I LOVE Korean Dramas (aka K-Dramas)! I love the pacing, the plot, and all of the twists. They’re irresistible. Here’s my top 5 K-dramas that I plan on watching this month!

1. True Beauty

True Beauty is based on the popular Webtoon written by Yaongyi . It follows Jugyeong Lim: a girl who’s constantly teased for her looks. So much so that she’s relieved when she’s told she’ll be switching schools due to a move. She ends up watching makeup beauty guru tutorials and learns how to enhance her looks. At her new school, she’s somehow caught between Suho Lee and Seojun Han; two boys with a tramautic past together.

2. Run On

Run On is about a famous track and field athlete who is forced to retire due to an accident. He meets a film translator who is wary because she’s constantly looking back at the same scenes over again.

3. Lovestruck in the City

This K-drama is available on Netflix! Ji Chang Wook and Kim Ji Won star as a dedicated architect and a freelance marketer. It’s perfect for fans of Hello, My Twenties! Ji Chang Wook is one of my favorite actors and there hasn’t been a drama that he’s been in that I didn’t absolutely adore!

4. Hush

This is perfect for fans of Suits and the K-Drama, Pinocchio. It’s an office drama that follows the lives of reporters and their interns. This particular one is about a senior reporter and the intern that he mentors.

5. The Penthouse

The Penthouse is kind of like Dynasty meets Gossip Girl. A woman, Eugene, has a goal to make it into high society and succeeed through the real estate business. She’s willing to do whatever it takes to get there – even if she starts to become someone she’s not.

What K-Dramas are you into?
